Campaign for Demand of Basic Amenities in Mayapuri Jhuggi Basti, Delhi

The Mayapuri Industrial Area Committee of Shramik Sahyog Kendra has launched a campaign amongst workers living in the Mayapuri jhuggi basti, raising demands to the Government and authorities to ensure basic civil amenties in the basti viz. Clean and new washrooms, 24/7 clean drinking water, cleanliness and sewage management, lighting, etc.

Along with this, the demand to address the concern of demolition of jhuggis in near future and relocation of the masses to pucca houses in Mayapuri itself has also been included.

श्रमिक सहयोग केंद्र की मायापुरी औद्योगिक क्षेत्रीय कमेटी ने झुग्गी-बस्ती में रहने वाली जनता के समक्ष बस्ती में मूलभूत जन सुविधाएं जैसे साफ व नए शौचालय, 24/7 स्वच्छ पेयजल, साफ-सफाई व नालियों की बेहतर व्यवस्था, बिजलीकरण आदि मुहैया कराने की मांग पर अभियान की शुरुआत की।

इसके साथ झुग्गियों को उजाड़ने की कोशिशों को निरस्त करने व जहां झुग्गी वहीं पक्का मकान देने की मांग को भी जोड़ा गया है।

On the first day, a team of 10 worker-activists was formed and a door-to-door campaign in Phase-1 was undertaken, through which close to 250 signatures were collected for the proposed memorandum.

IFTUS Bulletin ‘Sarwahara’ (issue 32) was also distributed among the workers, along with campaign leaflets in Hindi (attached with photos).

11 April 2021
